Power and Performance

The 1.0-liter EcoBoost® engine provides the EcoSport with a powerful and efficient drive. Turbocharged even on the standard model, this engine offers a responsive drive. The HR-V engine does not come turbocharged at the base trims, so you don't get that extra punch when driving. The EcoSport also offers an available engine that beats out anything the HR-V has in terms of power.

The HR-V's continuously variable transmission (CVT) has been noted as sluggish and kind of clunky. If you're not a fan of CVT, then the HR-V is probably not a good choice. The EcoSport has a standard six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and keeps things efficient on highway use.

Technology

The EcoSport features the AdvanceTrav® with Roll Stability Control™ to help keep you in control on any rough road conditions. This excellent feature is not offered on the HR-V; the EcoSport will have you enjoying every twist and turn on the road.

The EcoSport's interior is also decked out with some impressive technology with USB ports and two 12V outlets, the SYNC® media system, and the available SYNC® 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The HR-V does not offer Apple CarPlay, so your smart device integration will not be as effective.

Safety

Both vehicles offer excellent safety features, in fact the standard models have similar lineups for their active and passive safety specs. However, the EcoSport offers a post-crash SOS system that will automatically get you help in the event of an accident, a feature the HR-V does not offer.
